17856: Angus Beaton

Angus (1839-1934) was the son of John Beaton and Ann Macaulay of Tobson, Lewis.

A healthy Christian man with a strong will and character, Angus took over his father’s farm and ran it successfully. He married Anne Macdonald, a daughter of John and Jane Macleod of Lingwick, Quebec (formerly Breaclete, Bernera). For many years Angus taught Sunday School in the district. They had a daughter Annie who trained as a nurse; her mother died during her training. He later married Ann Murray with whom he had a daughter who died in infancy; they adopted a boy and a girl.

Angus is buried with both wives in Stornoway, Quebec
