Norman Beaton
Norman (1835-1917) was the son of John Beaton and Ann Macaulay of Tobson.
The family emigrated to Quebec, Canada. Norman got work as a water boy, keeping railroad construction workers supplied with drinking water. He recieved virgin forest land from the government on which he built a log cabin and barn.
Norman was married twice.
In 1862 Norman married Jane Macaulay, daughter of Malcolm Macaulay from Uig. Norman and Jane had eight children. Jane died, in 1882, during the birth of their ninth child. After Norman was widowed his widowed sister, Ann, kept house for him.
In 1886 Norman married Flora Maciver, a daughter of Malcolm Maciver, also from Uig. Norman and Flora had one son.
