16817: Alexander Matheson

Alexander Matheson (born 1826), son of Norman Matheson and Christina Macritchie, in Carnish. It appears that Alexander is in the baptismal records for Carnish twice – with a birthdate given as either 8 August or 18 September 1826. Perhaps he was born in August and christened in September.

Subsequently the family moved to 6 Aird Uig. In 1901 Alexander is living alone in one of the two houses on the croft, unmarried.
