Malcolm (1838-1917) was a son of Norman Matheson and Christina Macritchie, Carnish. He moved with his family to 6 Aird Uig when Carnish was cleared in the early 1850s.

Malcolm was married twice. His first wife was Margaret Morrison, Cross, Ness and they had eight children. His second wife was Christina Macleod, Geshader and they had two sons.
