Ann Macleod (1871-1938) was a daughter of Murdo and Ann Macleod, 9 Cromore.
At Stornoway, in 1894, she married Allan Smith, 5 Calbost. Ann and Allan were Cotters at 5 Calbost. She was widowed in 1905 at the age of 33, with three children under 10 years of age on a croft shared by three families.
Ann's only surviving child, Mary Ann, married John Mackenzie, 12 Calbost. They set up home on the Common Grazing at the back of the village wall at the west end of Calbost, taking Ann with them. Mary Ann dutifully looked after "Granny Anna" there.
