15330: Donald Alick Kennedy

Donald Alick (1914-1945) was a son of Donald Kennedy and Catherine Mackay, 2b Calbost.

On January 15, 1934 he enrolled in Royal Naval Reserve, Service Number AX17206 and re-enrolled under BX10064. His records indicate that he was 5ft 2¾ in tall with dark brown hair, grey eyes and a fresh complexion. Donald Alick worked on Stornoway registered fishing boats including the Proceed II, the Starlight, the Welcome Home and the Shamrock from 1934-1938.

He was Mobilised on November 14, 1938 and served in the Royal Navy during the Second World War. Based at HMS Mentor and aboard HMS Asturius  where he contracted Tuberculosis and was medically discharged in 1943. He is mentioned in the  Roll of Honour: Pairc, Second World War. 

Donald Alick died in Calbost at the age of 30.
