1466: Malcolm Smith

Malcolm  (1819-1895) was a son of Donald Smith and Annabella Nicolson, Laxay. His father, Donald, was joint tacksman of Laxay along with John Smith Iain Tuathanach.  Malcolm, Alexander (1815),  Margaret  and John were raised by their Uncle Donald at 5 Old Gravir after their parents died whilst they were still young. His brother, Alexander (1825) was raised at Valtos Farm. 

In 1841  Malcolm was living with his brother, Alexander (1815) at 15 Old Gravir. In 1851 he was a Cottar at 5 Old Gravir.

In Lochs, in 1852, he married his cousin, Isabella Nicolson, 5 Old Gravir. Malcolm and Isabella were Cottars at 5 Old Gravir and they later moved to 6 Gravir. The couple had eight children.
