Donald (1878-1944) was a son of John Macleod and Isabella Montgomery, 11 Habost.
In Lochs, in 1912, he married Catherine Montgomery, 20 Laxay. Donald and Catherine settled at 20 Laxay and they had three children.
On January 23, 1918 he enrolled in the Royal Naval Reserve Service Number DA 19482. His record indicates that he was 5ft 5in tall with grey eyes, a fresh complexion and a scar on the bridge of his nose. Donald was immediately Mobilised and served in the Royal Navy until March 1919 in the First World War. Based at HMS Victory, HMS Vivid and HMS Iolaire. His name is mentioned in Loyal Lewis: Roll of Honour 1914-1918.
