Rachel Macleod (1852-1920) was a daughter of Aulay Macleod and Christina Morrison, Shell Head. The family came from Tarbert, Harris.
In Lochs, in 1873, she married James Matheson, Shepherd’s House, Eishken. Rachel and James settled at Shell Head and by 1891 had moved to Stornoway. The couple had at least two children.
