Donald (born 1912) was a son of Duncan MacDougall and Ann Macrury of 7 Solas. Donald married Chirsty Ann MacKinnon of 7 Malaclete; the couple settled at 7 Solas.
Donald’s parents and his four sisters and two brothers emigrated to New Zealand, where a further sister was born. Donald remained with his grandparents in Solas. He married Chirsty Ann MacKinnon of 7 Malaclete; the couple settled at 7 Solas.
He contributed local memories of the areas to the introduction of Croft history : Isle of North Uist, volume 2. These included details of his family history and his work as a blacksmith, including the demonstration of his skills at the Empire Exhibition in Glasgow in 1938.
