Roderick (1811-1874) was a son of Malcolm Macdonald and Christina Macdonald, Harris. The family moved to 2 Altenish in 1820 and in 1826 the family moved to 9 Tong.
In 1832, he married, Marion Smith, 8 Tong. Roderick and Marion initially lived at Holm, moved to 12 Steinish and c1853 moved to 1 Aird Tong. The couple had at least six children.
Roderick was widowed in 1871.
