Donald Macleod

Donald Macleod

Donald Macleod (1897-1919) was a son of Donald Macleod and Catherine Macleod, 18 Cromore.

On November 25, 1915 he enrolled in the Royal Naval Reserve under Service Number SD3500.  His record indicates that he was 5ft 10½ tall with brown eyes and a fair complexion. Donald was immediately Mobilised and served in the Royal Navy in the First World War. Based at HMS Vivid III, HMS Victory I and aboard HMS Egmont. He was Invalided out of service with Tuberculosis and was awarded a pension of 27/6d per week. Donald received £17.10/- in Prize Money and his name is mentioned in  Loyal Lewis: Roll of Honour 1914-18.

Donald died two years later of Tuberculosis, aged 21.
