Peggy was a daughter of Angus Matheson, 5 Brenish and Margaret Macritchie, 3b Aird Uig. She was born at Seaforth House, 23 Scotland Street, Stornoway and moved with her family to 20 James Street. 

Peggy married Peter Croall from Kelso, where they lived. They had five children.
