Donald Angus Macphail (1900-1971) was a son of Neil Macphail and Ann Carmichael, 19 Gravir. The family moved to 16 Oliver's Brae, Stornoway and later to 6 Mackenzie Street.
He emigrated to the United States of America in 1930. In New York City, in 1931, he married Catherine Macfarlane Mackinlay, New York City, formerly of Scoonie. The couple settled in Monroe, New York and they had at least two children.
