Margaret Jane (1845-1909) was a daughter of Robert Bannatyne, Rothesay and Eliza Umphray, Shetland. Margaret Jane was born in Lerwick, where her father was a Fisheries Officer (he later continued with this work in Glasgow). 

In 1875, in Blythswood, Glasgow, Margaret Jane married the Reverend Angus Maciver, originally from Tobson. They had no children. When Angus was inducted to Baile na Cille Church in 1876 he and Margaret Jane lived at Baile na Cille Manse and later at Strathconon, where he continued his ministry.

Margaret Jane is buried in Fodderty Cemetery, Strathpeffer.
