118650: Cyril Alfred Goodge

Cyril Alfred (born 1901) from Hertfordshire was employed as a gardener and chauffeur in London by the Mount-Stewart family when he met another employee, Johanna Buchanan from 18 Uigen. They married and their eldest son Malcolm was born in London. They lost their jobs during the recession of the 1930s and moved back to Uig and bought the small farm at Miavaig, which had come up for sale. Their other three children were born there.

Cyril operated petrol pumps at Miavaig which provided a vital public service.
