Donald Ross (1797-1852) was a son of Roderick Ross and Janet Mackenzie, Crobeg Farm.
He emigrated to Canada in 1816 and was Chief Trader with the Hudson Bay Company at York Factory and Norway House. Donald is remembered for his meteorological records of the weather for almost thirty years.
He married Mary Macbeath, Red River, Manitoba ex Sutherland. Donald and Mary settled at York Factory and Norway House and they had at least five children.
