118170: Mary Ann MacDonald

Mary Ann, born 1857, was the daughter of Neil MacDonald and Christina MacLean of Griminish. During the 1850s the family moved to Borve Farm, where Neil worked as grieve. The site of their home was later known as Tobhta Nèill ‘ic Lachlainn. Mary Ann became a domestic servant and in 1881 married widower Colin Cameron, grieve at Balelone. They married on Berneray, where neighbour Archibald MacLeod composed the song Gobhaidh Gabhaidh Gobhaidh Mi to celebrate the occasion. Mary Ann and Colin lived at Bridge of Earn. Mary Ann died at Comrie in 1943.
