Catherine, born 1797, was the daughter of Roderick MacKillop and Ann Shaw of Borve. In 1817 Catherine married Angus Morrison of Strond, with whom she had at least three children. The family lived in Obbe before emigrating to St Ann’s, Cape Breton about 1828. There she became known as Martha or Red Kate. They later moved to Upper Baddeck.
