115183: Neil MacLeod

Neil MacLeod, born about 1818, was the son of John MacLeod and Julia MacLeod of Pabbay. Neil married Marion MacAskill of Ruisgarry, with whom he had at least  four children. By 1851 Neil held a tenancy in Borve, farming an area of 12 acres. However, in 1854 the crofts were cleared to make way for Borve Farm, and the family became cottars. In  August 1855 they left Plymouth, sailing to Australia on the Royal Albert. Their daughter Julia died during the voyage.
