114970: Lt Col Peter Allan Macfarlane Macgillivray OBE

Peter Allan Macfarlane Macgilllivray (1928-2017) was a son of Donald Macgillivray and Mary Mac Farlane, Glasgow. He had strong connection with the Isle of Lewis and more particularly with his grandparents croft at 10 Marvig.

“Black Mac” served with the Royal Signals and 33rd Airborne in Egypt, Cypress, Aden, Germany, Turkey and the UK.

He was instrumental in setting up The Yorkshire Dales River Trust and received an OBE in 1972.

Peter was an active supporter of Cuimhneachain nan Gaisgeach and was also a piper.
