Mary MacLennan

Mary MacLennan

Mary MacLennan was the wife of John MacPhail of North Uist, with whom she had at least seven children. Mary moved to Ruisgarry by 1818 where she, as a widow, shared a croft with her son Donald, paying annual rent of £6.12.6. Her children and maybe Mary herself all emigrated to Upper River Denys, Cape Breton during the late 1820s.

The names of John's and Mary's two daughters are unknown; one married a Morrison and the other a Lamond. More information about the family can be found on a website detailing the history of Inverness County.
