Rachel, whose maiden surname is unknown, was born in 1811. She married Donald MacAskill, who held joint tenancy of a croft in Ruisgarry with his father. Together Rachel and Donald were to have four children. Rachel is believed to have died about 1845, which was about the time that the family emigrated to Cape Breton.
