113356: Donald Ferguson
Donald, born 1821, was the son of Donald Ferguson and Una MacDonald of Ruisgarry. About 1845, with the re-organisation of Ruisgarry’s crofts into larger plots, the family emigrated to Grand River, Cape Breton.
Donald married twice. Firstly to Sarah, whose surname is unknown. Together they were to have five children, living in Framboise.
In 1859 Donald married widow Elizabeth Strachan of L’Ardoise, with whom he had eight more children. They continued to live in Framboise, but had moved to Little Bras d’Or by 1881, emigrating to Boston, Massachusetts in 1890, where Donald passed away in 1895. He was buried at Gethsemane Cemetery.
