113230: John Macdonald
John (1929-2016) was a son of John Macdonald and Janet Morrison, Ardveg. He was born at 1 Mangersta, in the home of his maternal aunts and also lived there when he attended Mangersta School. After two years in Mangersta School, John’s sisters became school age and a school was opened in Ardveg – Ardveg Side School.
John completed his primary education at Mangersta before moving to the Nicolson Institute in Stornoway. He continued his education in teacher training in Aberdeen. His first teaching post was in Prestonpans and he ended his teaching career as headmaster of Brora High School.
John and his wife Mary Mitchell from Fraserburgh retired to Inverness. They had a son and daughter.
