112802: Murdo Morrison

Murdo, born 1840, was the son of Kenneth Morrison and Margaret MacCusbic, who were living in Ruisgarry in 1841, having moved from Borve. However, with the re-organisation of the crofts in Ruisgarry during the 1840s, the family emigrated to Fergusons’ Lake in Cape Breton. Murdo married Chirsty Ferguson, also an immigrant from Berneray. Murdo was to become known as the Gaelic Bard of Cape Breton, with poems published as Orain Fuinn is Cladaich.
