John, born 1826, was the eldest child of Kenneth Morrison and Margaret MacCusbic of Borve. By 1841 the family had moved to Ruisgarry. However, with the re-organisation of the crofts in Ruisgarry during the 1840s, the family emigrated to Fergusons’ Lake in Cape Breton. John probably went with them.
