Arminger Nicolson

Arminger Nicolson

Arminger Nicolson, born 1780, moved from Skye to teach at Obbe School by 1817. He married Catherine Morrison, who taught sewing and knitting in the school. Together they had at least one child, a daughter, Isabella. The 1841 census shows Arminger and his wife living with Isabella and her husband in old Ruisgarry, Berneray. They later returned to Obbe.

There is a hollow on Berneray, close to the current church, now known as Lag a' Chomanachaidh, but previously known as Lag Armchuill.
