Malcolm (1947-2015) was a son of Donald Mackay and Catherine Macdonald, 18 Valtos. His wife was from Kirkibost and he lived with her for a time at Tigh a’ Chladaich, Kirkibost, before moving to Stornoway, where she was warden at Kirkcare, and finally settling in Plasterfield.
Malcolm and his wife had two daughters.
