109691: Abraham Langley

Abraham (1907-1983) was born in Eyemouth, Berwickshire and moved with his family to Stornoway when his father came for the fishing. He married Mary Ann Matheson, 11 Mangersta. During their early married life they lived in a flat at 30 Keith Street, then a  newly built house at 37 Nicolson Road before settling  at 8 Bain Square, Stornoway. They had three daughters

Abraham had a shop/ post office at 52 Bayhead Street, Stornoway. He was also a Town Councillor, County councillor and a trustee of the Stornoway Trust. He also started the Old Peoples’ Welfare Association along with Dolly Doctor from Uig and Mary Dart of the Maciver and Dart.
