Donald MacCusbic, born about 1848, was the eldest child of tenant farmer Malcolm MacCusbic and Margaret Morrison of old Borve. However, in 1854 the tenants in Borve were cleared from their land in order to make way for Borve Farm. The family emigrated to Mount Gambier, South Australia, leaving Plymouth on the Royal Albert on 15th August 1855. There he married and had two sons.
