106268: Norman John MacLeod

Norman John, born in 1902, was the youngest child of Donald MacLeod and Christina MacLeod of 13 Backhill. He was a pupil at Berneray School, later at Kingussie Higher Grade School and at Portree Higher Grade School.

Norman John became a schoolmaster progressing to headmaster, initially at Tigharry School, and later at Alvie School in Kincraig. At Inverness in 1932 he married Catherine MacRae, who was from Kiltarlity. Together they were to have two children. By 1945 Norman John was head of Culcabock School, Inverness.

He owned the property 12a Backhill, next to his parents’ home, which was later passed to his sister Mary.
