John (1899-1971) was a son of John Macdonald and Ann Macinnes, Ardveg. He married Janet Morrison, 1 Mangersta and they lived at Ardveg. They had five children, the eldest, John, died in infancy.
After Janet died in 1953, John and two of his daughters relocated from Ardveg to 20 Brenish, the home of a cousin of Janet. John had planned to build a house when he obtained tenancy of 7 Brenish but 2 Carnish became available and John bought it.
