Eain Aonghas (1924-1990), born in Fort George, was the son of John Smith, Ballantrushal and Jessie Macritchie, 4 Aird, Uig. His father served in the Seaforth Highlanders and the family moved about a lot. They returned to live at 4 Aird, Uig, before relocating to 13 Ardroil.
Eain served in the Seaforth Highlanders 7th battalion during the Second World War and was wounded in Normandy August 1944. A record for him can be found in the Roll of Honour 1939-1945.
Eain inherited the house and croft at 13 Ardroil and lived there. He was unmarried.
