Margaret was born about 1795, the daughter of Malcolm Shaw and Catherine MacLeod of Ruisgarry. She married farmer and ferryman Kenneth Morrison, with whom she had at least six children. They lived in Borve.

Her husband died not long before the Borve tenants were cleared in order to make way for Borve Farm, in 1854. Margaret and the children became cottars at Ferry. Margaret passed away of consumption in 1860, and the house was passed to daughter Catherine.
