Kenneth Morrison

Kenneth Morrison

Kenneth was born about 1784, the son of Morris Morrison and Peggy Johnson of Ardmaree. In 1818 he shared a croft with his father, paying annual rental of £8 5s. Kenneth married Margaret Shaw of Ruisgarry, with whom he had at least six children.

By 1830 Kenneth held a sole tenancy in Borve, paying £2 2s 6d rental. He was a ferryman, working the Berneray-North Uist route, and also smuggled whisky to Skye. The searock Bodha Choinnich was named for him.

He died sometime between the 1851 census and the creation of Borve Farm in 1854.
