Catherine, more usually Kate, was born in 1910, the daughter of John MacKillop and Marion Shaw of 13 Ruisgarry (Sunhill). She attended Berneray School between 1916 and 1924. She had a daughter and later married Angus MacFarlane of 4 New Road, Ness. They made their home in Leverburgh.
