John Mackay (1788-1872) from Peinthinndelein and formerly Kirkibost married Catherine Macinnes from Kirkibost. In the 1820s the couple, who where among the first families to settle in Achmore, lived at 1 Old Achmore. They had 5 children. During the 1850s John acquired the croft at 3 Achmore.
