Comhairle nan Eilean Siar (CnES) is the local authority for the Western Isles.

In 1975, the Council was created as Western Isles Council, 57 years after the creation of Na h-Eileanan an Iar for elections to the House of Commons of the Parliament of the United Kingdom.
