63355: 90th Regiment, Perthshire Light Infantry

Three distinct corps have occupied the position of the 90th regiment. The first was raised in Ireland in 1759 and named the Irish Light Infantry. It was disbanded in 1763.

The second was raised in England during the American War of Independence; this regiment served for a time in the West Indies, and was disbanded at the peace of 1783.

The third 90th was the regiment raised in 1794 as the Perthshire Volunteers, and formed into a light infantry corps. In 1881 it combined with the 26th Cameronian Regiment, with the 90th becoming the 2nd Battalion of the Cameronians (Scottish Rifles).
