50548: United Presbyterian Church

The United Presbyterian Church of Scotland was formed in 1847 with the union of the United Secessionist Church (formed in 1820 by several churches which had separated from the Established Church) and the Relief Church (similarly formed by secessionist groups in the 18th century). The new church was particularly zealous in foreign missionary work.

The United Presbyterian Church itself merged in its entirety with the majority of the Free Church in 1900, forming the United Free Church. The UFC subsequently merged (in its majority) with the Established Church in 1929, taking the title of the Church of Scotland.
