121397: National Records of Scotland
The National Records of Scotland is a non-ministerial department of the Scottish Government. It was formed in 2011 from the merger of the General Register for Scotland and the National Archives of Scotland.
The National Records of Scotland is responsible for statutory registrations of births, marriages, civil partnerships, deaths, divorces and adoptions in Scotland. It runs the census every ten years and is the main source of family history records, which can be accessed via the ScotlandsPeople website.
