108303: Scots Guards

The regiment, originally the Marquis of Argyll’s Royal Regiment, was raised for King Charles I in 1642, intended as a personal guard. As the Scottish Regiment of Foot Guards, it became part of what is now the British Army in 1686. The regiment, like other units, underwent various name changes, with Queen Victoria affirming its name as the Scots Guards in 1877.

A detailed history of the regiment can be found on the Scots Guard Association website.

Note: This regiment is distinct from the Royal Scots, Royal Scots Fusiliers and the Royal Scots Dragoon Guards.
