The village lies two miles north of Barvas, and is the site of Clach an Truiseil, a monolith dating from the same period as the Callanish stones. The word truiseal (genitive truiseil) is thought to derive from the Norse thrus, goblin. Legend has it that the monolith is a man turned to stone.
