Clackmannanshire
Clackmannanshire, located between Perthshire and the Firth of Forth, was Scotland's smallest historical county. Its main town was Alloa. Although it was absorbed into the newly created Central Region in 1975 when local government in Scotland was restructured, the old county name was revived in 1996 on the creation of a new unitary authority, Clackmannanshire Council.
