113237: Tarabhig, Ruisgarry

Tarabhig or Taravaig is on the east side of Sandhill. The name, from the Norse, means Seaweed Bay.  During the 1700s, when blacksmith Morris Morrison lived at Tarabhig, the plot was known as Gearraidh a’ Ghobha. Several generations of Morrisons lived at Tarabhig, and several localities close by were named for the family.

Tarabhig was one of the plots affected by the re-organisation of Ruisgarry into larger crofts during the 1840s.
