Aviemore, Inverness-shire
Originally a crofting township, Aviemore became a railway junction when the direct Highland Railway to Inverness was established in 1892. The village was developed for tourism in the 1960s and now lies within the the Cairngorms National Park. Population 2,397 (2001).
