40716: Kiln, Vuia Mhor

The remains of a large kiln situated on Rubha na h-Athadh (Point of the Kiln) near the village on Vuia Mhor. Local tradition maintains that it was used for kelp – although another article written by John Smith, Earshader, states that it was a grain kiln.

The outlines of two further structures (one round, one irregular) are visible immediately beside the kiln and a substantial wall, now much decayed, separates the point from the rest of the island.
