Full description:
"Typical of bridge construction in this area, this is the best original example of a local bridge seen in this study area. It is of the clapper style, traditionally thought to be a medieval construction style, but in use in Lewis right into the 20th century. It consists of drystone abuttments and a single drystone pier, with a shaped stone breakwater on its upstream side. The deck is constructed of stone slabs (unlike other bridges in the area which seem to have concrete decks) which might suggest that this bridge is of an older origin and has been reused on the current road line."
