When Donald John Mackay “Domhnall Iain Mhalachaidh” returned from the praries of Montana in the 1930s, he had this house built on, what is now, 5 Earshader. It was built by Angus Macdonald “Aonghas Mhickenzie” 25 Kirkibost and Donald Macdonald “Domhnall Sheumais” from Tolsta Chaolais. Donald John and his wife lived at 2 Earshader until the house was completed in the late 1930s. It overlooks Caolas Earshader. Bernera Bridge and Cleitir can be seen in the background.
